Solo Ride Sunday

Solo ride today, 31 miles at 16.6 MPH average speed. Pretty good headwind to the coast. I keep thinking it's going to ease up but it doesn't ha ha! Oh well, maybe my fault for doing the late start, after 11 am I think.

Saw Tony and Thai at the coast. I headed back just after they did. They turned off at Segerstrom (probably didn't spell it right). I was right behind them on the uphill of the underpass when they approached the little gate. I don't think they saw me or heard me wave. I shouted but no turn of heads. Hey, maybe they were trying to ignore me ha ha!

Anyway, good little ride and workout. Some chicks at the beach. It was nice and sunny when I got there but cold and chilly when I left. Oh how it can chance so suddenly.

I hate when I mess up a good shot not knowing or remembering this little point and shoot. Pretty crappy set up but takes decent pics, big files. Not bad for $80 that I paid. Just hard to remember as it is so different from a real camera.

I tried the sport mode when a chick in a bikini walked up. Not bad, looked really good in the sun but I blew the shot, pretty blurry. tried again later but I haven't used this mode before and maybe I should have just stuck with the setting I had. Oh well, a blurry bikini shot is better than no shot! :-P

My fat head at Lincoln, my turn around point after a little warm up.

She looked really good in the sun but I blew the shot. Had some hardness  showing there too like she had just gotten out of the water but again, I blew the nip shot! :-(

Meh, strange look on the face but better than nothing.

There were some women out there training for a tri I think. I got a couple pics of them in training! ;-)

Then there was Tony and Thai. :-P

Easter Ride with Gina and the Gang.

I swear, too many freaking A Holes on bikes. No, not the trail, don't fool yourself, it's everywhere but today was the trail.

31 miles with Gina, Aimee and Mike. 15.9 average speed. Not bad, Gina's second ride in a couple months and today a few more miles than last week and just one point under the pace. Heck, that could have been the breeze. But she did well. Aimee just about always does well and Mike, heck with Mike, who cares ha ha!

SO anyway, just starting out, we head from Orangewood to Lincoln (our turn around point). We get to the really wide area next to the train station. Locals know how much freaking room there is there. But 2 stupid triathletes on aerobars decide it's a good idea to stop blocking the entire lane with bikes parked across the lane. C'mooon!

We go by then as we are getting close to Lincoln, one passes. Good clean safe pass, no issues with this guy.

But the second ass hole is about 50 yards behind the other guy. Gina says she thought the second on, the ass hole was a gal. I wasn't sure. All covered up in tights as if it were 10 degrees here in So Cal. So anyway, I look up the riders on Strava hoping that ass hole is posting so I can share a few words. But only the first rider has posted and WOWEEEE! A whopping 16.6 MPH average. A super duper high speed worth risking the safety of others. Even if the second rider is a woman, she's still an ass hole!

So, the four of us are just starting out, holding a steady pace as always. I'm at the front when the second ass hole decides to pass while traffic is approaching from the other side. I was in the middle of my lane and had no idea the rider was going to pass. Gina luckily a little to my right on my wheel.

The ass hole starts passing and then I'm guessing figured not enough time, not as fast as the rider thought he/she was, so the rider buzzes the fuck out of me! It was as if the rider went right under my arm. I mean I am a lot taller and the rider was super low and on aerobars. So it was as if the rider buzzed my ankles, WTF!

OK, first off ass hole, who risks the safety or other riders around them for a 16,6 average speed on a 38 mile ride. WTF! You're slow so fucking be careful that you don't hurt anyone pretending to be an Ironman superstar.

Good thing that rider didn't take me down because Gina was on my wheel and I would have been pissed. If you had not been hurt but hurt Gina, I'm telling you know, you would not have walked away from the scene. You're going to the hospital!

So after the ass hole passes, I realized what happened and shouted several obscene words. The rider sat up as if almost wanting to look back and reply, apologize, something was there but he/she decided to go back down on the aerobars to hold their outstanding 16.6 average speed.

Man, I was hoping, HOPING that rider would look back and start talking some shit! Even after the ride had pulled away, I still felt like catching up and shouting in his/her face telling them what a big fucking asshole he/she was!

Meh! I've had a few assholes confront me before and no, never intimidated me or made me feel like I couldn't beat the fuck out of them right there on the spot. I'm guessing whoever this asshole was, thought twice about starting shit. Good thing because the way that ride was laboring and barely pulling away, at an amazing 16.6 average speed, I wouldn't have had any problem running them down.

Sorry, I get fired up but these ass holes are just too much. Heck, we've been cranking at 24, 25, even 26 at times and if I see a kid, another rider, shaky or stable, I'll back off and make sure I pass safely so that at the end of a fun hobby day, we all go home safely and in one piece. WTF, 16.6 average speed is worth rising the safety of others? WHT!

So anyway, other than that ass hole, the ride was good!

You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet!

OK, nothing to do with cycling, just a little song playing around with the guitar till Saturday ride day. ;-)

Sunday Easy Spin, Well Kinda!

Did a 31 miler with Mike today. 17.0 average speed. Supposed to be an easy spin as Mike did a hard effort yesterday. He said he wanted to do a 15 average slow easy recovery ride. Hmmm! Well we did the first 6 miles chatting and spinning easy at a 14.5 average speed. Got to Edna Park then decided that was kind of boring so we picked it up. Got in a 17.0 average after doing about a 1/5 of the ride really easy and slow, so that was good.

Ran into a Tri Chick at Edna park named Cathy/Kathy. I always forget to ask about the first letter with names like this ha ha! But anyway, pretty cool chick! We chatted a bit about riding and jerseys/kits. She asked if she could take a pic of my jersey, sure! Ha ha funny, she said don't worry, I won't get your butt in the picture! He he he, thought that was funny knowing most of you know my style. I guess I could give up a butt shot of mine if I had to ha ha!

She was training and doing a 4 hour ride. Pretty good time on the bike! Of course she will probably go run and swim and I'm here happy to just do a 31 miles today ha ha! I'm such a wimp!

Anyway, good day on the bike. Mike picked up on the way back for a section at about 23. Did start to gasp for air a bit but recovered once I went to the front and slowed it down a bit!

Cathy/Kathy said she'd check out the blog so if she does, here's the pic. One with a watermark, one without!

Making the skies a little bluer for Mike ha ha!

Funny, after Cathy/Kathy asked to take a pic of my jersey, another dude rolled up and asked if he could take a pic as well. Whoah, some kind of record  ha ha! 2 pics in a few minutes time. So I had to get a pic of the jersey for myself to see what the deal was.

Ride almost over!

26 miler with Gina, Not Bad!

She did the 26 miles no problem after another 2 months off, damn hospital people. Did a 16.0 average without trying too hard. I know she wasn't trying to hard because not once did she call me a bad name ha ha!

The two of us started off alone. I figured we would be slow, her two months off and I acquired a stiff muscle after climbing on ladders, twisting and turning, sanding and painting  over the last few days. Stiff and painful the first couple miles but once stopped at Edna Park, actually felt some relief from standing I guess, a stretch perhaps.

There we ran into Jose who was on a longer ride. He asked if I had plans to ride this weekend but I said I didn't know. Though I wanted to ride alone seeing Gina hasn't been on the bike much and me stiff. I figured a short easy ride would be good. So I never told him we would ride. BUT, there he was and sure enough, he hopped on the back for the entire ride.

Turned out to be a nice day though and a nice ride. The Sikad Bayan ride was also going on. We started late so we saw most on the return as we headed to the coast. One thing I cannot understand are the dopes who cut the trail short around the blind turns. Like the end of the golfcourse at the 22 fwy. You can't see around the turn because of the freeway structure but yet these ass hats cut the trail short. They take the oncoming lane to cut it short. C'mon, with the traffic on SART, any dumb ass can figure out there might be oncoming traffic around the blind turn. I guess that is why it turns my stomach when I read bad driver stories on cycling forums. Too many ass hats that can't even ride a bike safely. I'm sure they are even more stupid in a car. Not to mention, I have ridden with too many ass hats who are pretty dangerous on the bikes. So much I won't even ride with them any longer. I don't want to get hurt and if they hurt someone, I want no part of it. The really funny thing is sitting at the beach stop listening them whine about drivers then on the way back, they nearly cause a few accidents on the trail by doing stupid things. Hmm!

Happened to me today! Going around the turn, some ass hat is in the center of my lane in the blind turn.  Sorry man, but if you take me out head on, I'm going to have to throw an elbow into your jaw as we collide. I figure it's a form of self defense and protection against stupid bike riders and maybe it will teach them a lesson having a broken jaw. Gina's behind me and if you cause me to crash, I'm doing the best I can to clear the road for her hoping she can avoid the crash and injury. That's my thoughts on these ass hats!

                                                         Getting ready to roll!

Peace Yo!

Funny dude in back. We caught him from a long way out. Sees us coming and tries to race off, OKAY! We catch and pass then he hops on the back. Sure enough, couple miles later he sprints around and tries to stay away. I'm just laughing knowing we caught him once and he seemed to be struggling while we were cruising. Sure enough he's looking back thinking we are racing. Then once we are about to catch him, he turns off at the exit ha ha! Clown!

Tho pony tail!

Another clown. Flies by as we leave the coast. Pretty impressive 24 MPH sprint as he goes around. Gets 1/4 mile ahead then 5 miles later we roll up on him just holding our pace. He starts looking back at us through his little time trial visor thing. Pulls away, fades, then catch him again. This time he also hops on the back and drafts for a a mile or so. Again he sprints around at a high rate of speed. Pretty impressive! :-P Then again we pass him just holding our pace. This time the guy is so tired he can't even hold our pace ha ha! Another clown! I will never understand these guys. If someone passes me, go for it, more power to you. Not sure why I would want to impress some dude who just caught me with and impressive sprint ha ha!

Now the fun part. My Dad had been sick for a few years before passing in August. Mom's house needed a lot of work. I have repaired a hundred things already. Haven't counted but everything I touch, I have had to repair, let's put it that way. Now I am working on the kitchen. the ceiling had  a couple of holes, several patches over the years and a fluorescent light fixture removed but never fixed. The leaks had been fixed over the years but never patched properly so hey, let's do it!

My cousins and relatives now call me Dusty Beanz ha ha!

This was the kitchen ceiling before the repairs.

Hole under the blistered paint.

The blister. Because there was a hole, ants would find their way in. Yuck!

After I started patching and repairing dings and dents on the walls.

The fluorescent light's former home. Big patch.

The new improved repaired ceiling. I have also repaired damaged corners on the wall, dings and dents so the walls should look just as nice after I paint them. Just waiting for Mom to chose a color and some paint.

Sooo, so so so so much better! :-)

Saturday SART with Aimee from Finland

31 miles with Aimee today. 16.3 average same as last week but I had to work hard today to get it. Much windier on the way to the coast. I rarely draft when I set out for a ride but today the legs were screaming. So I hopped on a small group of 3 that rolled by. I know it was windy because I have seen these 3 before and when they pass, they fly by. Today they rolled by but at a much slower rate. I could tell the first 2 were working hard. They got ahead but we actually caught them on a little uphill. So heck, I hopped on for a little break.

Aimee hasn't been on the bike since December or so but did a good job of keeping the pace. Of course she agreed, like me not being on the seat much, the hardest part was the but pain ha ha! She did say that once we caught back up to that little group, she was worried I was going to pass them h a ha!. Nah, I don't do that. If someone catches me and passes me, I never pass them. They caught me for a reason and like too many of those fools I pass who end up sprinting around, I didn't want to play the same game and make a fool of myself. I just held on and took a little break. What a big difference.

OK so Aimee is not from Finland but she went for vacation.  She took the pics below. ;-)

Aimee in Finland pics!
