Sunday Solo

Another 20 solo miles on the San Gabe trail.  Felt a little awkward drinking from the bottles but I managed ha ha ha.

Nice day though. And a little lunch after with Gina and her Mom at a little taco restaurant.  🌮

The happy face? End of shift on Friday knowing I have a 3 day weekend

Solo 50 Bee Sting in Mouth 🤣

50 solo miles and bee sting in the mouth.🤣  Knew I should have ridden the local trail but been a while since I've been on the Santa Ana trail so I gave it a try.  That sucks! Wearing my mask, I pulled it down to get some air and 2 seconds later, BAM! 🤣😂🤣 The inside of my bottom lip my right side. That's gonna get puffy.

Solo Spider 40

Solo 40 then out to an early dinner with Gina and her Mom.  Treated us to Olive Garden,  hey I'll take it. Always a good time with Gina's Mom.  She has a heart of gold. I think that's where Gina gets it from.

But the ride started out chilly. I chose to leave the windbreaker and tights in the truck.  Sometimes the newer tights bug me so I try to avoid them when I can. But I survived ha ha ha.

One thing I find funny,  well actually enjoy.  I'm starting out,  takes me time to warm up and work out the creaks. First section is rather flat then goes up after 5 miles or so.

Almost always a guy, different guys that pass me on the lower section.  Not sure where they come from as I usually know who's around me.  I figure they get on the trail right after I pass an underpass.

So I'm still warming up as they roll by proud as can be passing me. Watching the guy, seems he's going 100 percent trying to drop me. Heck   I'm going 60 percent trying to warm up watching the guy pull ahead 50 to 100 yards.

Once we get to the section where it starts stair stepping up, I notice I get another 10 yards closer with each short upramp.

On the final 4 miles  I'm almost certain I'll pass within the next mile and a half.  And yes, there it is. I'll pass the guy on a short steep ramp and almost always,  he'll take my wheel.

I'll tell the guy, hey I'm not into drafting and I like to ride alone so you can go ahead or drop back.

Heck  I'm not out there riding my bike to pull people.  I don't rely on others to carry me on my rides so why should I carry anyone?

So once he gets off my wheel   I kick it up and work my butt off on the final couple of miles dropping him far back. So hey, the guys are pretty proud dropping me 50 yards  at the start but I love crushing their souls when we hit the elevating game. 😄

The grade heading up.

Ah, still working my butt off sweating with these itty-bitty tiny little parts measuring them on a CMM (coordinate measuring machine) working in the AC of the Metrology lab. 😄

Another solo 20

Another 20 today. Started wet and cold. From Pico Rivera to the  Santa Fe Dam.  Nice and dry on the way down.  Doing my magic making my bike stand up unaided. 😆😄😆

Solo 40

40  solo miles today.  Second ride this year and once a month ain't going to cut it ha ha ha.  Need to get back on my horse 🐎.

From Pico Rivera to the top the base of the Azusa mountains.  Felt good setting out for 40. But maybe I should have settled for 35 seeing the last couple were a little tough.  Well, maybe not! This is how we do it,  suffer a little to make gains.  Glad I did it.

What really sucks, catching some dude from 1/4 mile back along the dam. Once I'm ahead,  he picks it up to catch back up. Ok, impressive, right?

Then I hit the trail and he hops on my wheel.  C'mon man, caught your ass and now you want to suck my wheel?

Can't anybody ever just do their own ride? I'm riding solo just doing my thing   why can't you? So this guy tries to stay on my wheel.  I  move over,  wave him to the front but he won't go. Great   get lost buddy, he did falling back about 1/2 mile.

Then the ass hat on the ebike.  Im catching him holding my pace about 17 or 18 at that point.  I catch him planning to go around.  But he looks back in his helmet mirror   then lifts the pace so that I can't pass him.

Not enough to leave me behind,  but just enough so I can't pass and I'm stuck in the opposite lane.  He's looking at me up and down as he blocks me from passing.  What a jerk.

Well that's my story.  Really not too many riders on the upper section of the trail so I don't get much of this like I do on the Santa Ana trail   but there's always one, or two somewhere.
