Solo 46 Meeting David and Phuong

Pics for now, story later. Very nice couple on a tandem.

So, set out today on the SA trail because of the 102 forecast. Headed inland first then stopped at Yorba Park heading back south. At the park, a lady on a tandem said she liked my bones jersey.  Then ended up chatting after I had asked them if they were a certain couple I had met years ago,  nope!

But we started chatting tandems.  Very nice couple and we swapped some stories.  Mostly me as usual ha ha ha!

Ended up talking for quite some time.  David and his wife Phuong.  Crossed paths again on the trail so I snapped a couple shots.  David is on strava so seeing the pics, he asked me to send them to him. We're buddies on strava now.

He's a member of a tandem group on FB so he invited me to join. Of course I told him of Gina's situation so hopefully I'll get her back on the bike  most likely the tandem soon.

Turned out to be a very nice couple. Great time chatting so hope we can get out there on the tandem one day.

Other than that, an uneventful ride. But that wind was brutal.  I was worried about the heat, hit 99 at one point on my GPS but for the most part   I saw mid 70s.

But again   the wind was brutal and more of a factor in my opinion.  At one point near Warner,  I was pushing pretty good and only doing 13 mph. 🤣

Did see Tony and Thai. Alex for a quick wave. Just another ride but the cool air at the beach was nice!

Of course,  dinner with Gina at Outback again.  I just had to have ribeye today. 😁

Fat Bastard Sunday

Fat Bastard Sunday Solo Ride. 20 miles at 15.7 average speed. Nice easier Sunday flatter, more relaxing, recovery ride except for the beotch of a headwind on the return. 🤣

Check this out.  Heatproofing Gina's car. New AC,  New sun visors, and new window motors.  All I hot was Mongolian BBQ, $10 Wally World sandals,  and my weekly $2 allowance. 🤣

Hot Solo 40

Solo 40 miles Pico to Azusa mountains.  I did see 99 max on my GPS when I got to the top.😄 I think the wind hurt more than the heat today.  Little RELIVE

My little utility case.  I bet GMR (Glendora Mountain road blogger) would be surprised that I still have and use the little case she gave to me. How many years? 15 ish? I used it for my camera then switched it over to my GPS.  Perfect fit for my Bryton and still getting good use out of it. 😄

Still enjoying the AC at work collecting easy money.

Solo 50 Injured Rib Style

Solo 50 miles today. 15.9 average speed.  Last year I dislocated a rib working heavy labor. Last Sunday,  I was taking a pic of my bike when the wind blew it over. I took a couple steps to catch it  full stretch while squatting to save it. I felt my rib pop losing my breath and almost falling to the ground.  But I saved it so the bike is OK! 😄

But the injury bothered me all week and the worst of it all on Friday.  But I figured a ride on the smoothest trail around would be good for my rib. I felt good after a shaky start. Warming up the muscles does wonders.

At the coast, a very strange surprise.  My coworker showed up surprising me. As I headed back, I passed him on his 3 speed cruiser so I slowed to take a few shots.

A warm one today  sweaty legs and all. 😄

Finally placed benches in the train station south wing after a long time, covid.

Easy Sunday Recovery

A relaxing 20 miles before going back to work on Monday.  16.5 average speed.

Sunday Recovery Rode RELIVE

Well, supposed to be relaxing but pulled a muscle along my ribcage. 🤣 I placed my bike up against the fence for a picture.  Usually the other way but I have a few of that shot so I went for a shot facing south. I knew it was a bit windy but figured a good place along the fence would hold,  WRONG!

I  was a couple steps away when I saw it start to fall. New saddle,  GPS, mount, and just the bike alone not wanting it to hit the ground.  A couple quick steps,  a crouch and quick reach out, saved it mostly.  The handlebar barely tapped the ground chipping the alum red plug. Bummer but I can spin it to hide it.

The saddle didn't hit, whew so I'm good except that I felt a pull during the stretch

Always the stupid things that get you ha ha ha.

Couple of shots with homeless camps.

Well, figured after my ride,  Gina and I could take our Dad's flowers.  Gina's Dad's plot is surrounded by flowers and visitors

My Dad's pretty bare. Doesn't seem like many have been around

But he's sitting pretty being the only dude around with flowers 💐  😄

Since we were passing through Rancho,  figured we'd stop at Steer N Stein for dinner.  Always really good but I chose mashed potatoes this time.  Mistake, instant. 🤣

I sure figure a lot,  don't I? 😁

I got the ribeye and Gina the bacon wrapped tri tip.
