Solo Muffler Ride

Busy Friday,  solo Saturday long ride, so today was an easy 20 Muffler Ride.  I dreamed I was a Muffler, so I woke up exhausted. 😆😄😆

Just an easy ride but going up hill, I felt tired.  Started thinking my legs were bent a little too much.  Maybe dropping weight,  less butt padding. . So I stopped raising my saddle a bit. Felt a little different but after a mile or two   felt much better. .

I did cut my own hair yesterday. . Felt so much better .

I'm posting an image of this comment seeing it seems the poster wanted it seen. Responsibility dog owner,  the way it should be.

Went to eat with Gina after the ride,  for lunch.  Red Robin.  🍔 Burger and dipping cheese sauce stuff. Gina liked the dipping cheese but really,   their food is some nasty crap  ha ha ha 😂

Still trying to get Gina back on the bike.  Seems she's thinking about it again.  I sure hope so.  59 and seems cycling has done a good job of keeping her glutes firm. Big ol booty but it's tight. 😉

Oh yeah,  I get so frustrated when the homeless block and litter the trail. Last couple weeks,  some of the underpasses on the SGRT have been so messed up.

Today   I was heading north  when I started down an underpass. Some homeless chick in a bikini top had a dog that darted out in front of me. Good thing I pay attention and take caution.

So on the return,  I see her rolling a shopping cart along the trail. I figure I'd bother her in return for the dog incident.

She's jiggling around in her bikini top, actually popping out a bit. So as I rolled by  I shouted NICE TITS!!! 😄

She ignored me but I was happy to annoy her in return 🙃

Almost Solo 45

45 miles today.  Started alone but ran into Ron and Dixie at the coast. So we rode back together the last 14.

Caught Joaquin from behind which is unusual as he's usually humping back.  As we were approaching him from behind,  I didn't recognize him because he forgot his jersey and looked different from behind.  But he jumped in and worked with us.

I did forget to take my on the bike pic so I took it after ha ha ha.  But I did get a couple of the others.

Great evening as well. Took Gina's Mom to Espiau's for dinner.  Still enjoy the signature salad.

Then later decided to cut my hair . ✂️  Much faster this time even though it was starting to get long again. Couldn't stand it on the bike with the helmet.

So I did it then had Gina's Mom run the clippers up the back.  She's always fiddling with her hair so I thought she'd get a kick out of using the clippers on me because she's scared to use them on herself.

I can do it with mirrors but I asked her and a little less tricky.

But man,  I'm getting good at this   saving 25 bucks or more.

I'm in Good Shape?

So I've been watching my electrolytes now that I've been working out in the sun. Jeepers, still in the 90s but I've done well to handle the heat . Our manager Rosie pushes hydration which is a good thing.

The other day I was joking saying I was getting old.  Then she said, "overall,  I think you're one of the healthiest most fit people even at your age!".

Cool! She's 35 so that's a compliment coming from a much younger person.   She often laughs and says, "you and your bike!" Ha ha ha!

So she goes to Costco often getting supplies for us guys in the shop. Very generous   food, frozen food,  hydration drinks,  coffee,  tea, water,  cookies   goodies   granola bars, all types of stuff to keep us going.

I bought Liquid IV on ebay for $34, bag of 30 packets.  She found it on sale at Costco for $21.

Nice! So I asked her if she would pick up a pack for me if I gave her the money,  on her next trip.  She says  "here, pick one."

Well I didn't want a freebie so I offered money again but she refused to take it and demanded that I take a pack. I told her it was for riding my bike so I wanted to pay not taking advantage of my employer.  But said she knew and again demanded I take a pack. So cool! Also,  it's cool that the young guys at work tell me that I'm strong and they hope to age well like I did.

That's cool  manager is interested in my and our well being at and away from work.

I  do feel good 👍.  Lot's of exercise at work,  like getting paid to work out and the boss supports us 💯 percent.

And I'm feeling great on and off the bike.

Oh, and by the way,  Gina just got another raise! 💰  I just got one couple weeks back and just when I think I'm about to catch her, bam, she gets another raise.  She deserves it  she's always been a hard worker.  🥰

Easy Solo Recovery

Just a nice 25 from Pico Rivera golf course to the little nature center Just above the Santa Fe Dam.

Not bad, decent both ways and not a whole lot of wind.

The little underpass was actually somewhat clean.  Usually it's covered with junk blocking nearly one lane.  Sure hope they clean it all..

It was  nice and cool at  the start for once. Sun didn't  come out till around mile 20  so that was cool 😎

Solo Spider 🕷 60

Solo 60 at 15.9 today. Tried for a long steady pace but man, the wind really kicked up on the south section.  Was really working me hard.

I had thought about 60 then slept in,  forget it.  But once on the trail I  figured I would do 46. Then there   heck I'll do 50. Oh what the heck,  I'll do 60. Good workout but glad I did it as I've been wanting to do longer rides.

I did bust out the Beanz hat today.  Figured I better start wearing it seeing I bought it back in March and haven't touched it. So today was a good day to start. 😄

Oh yeah,  been trying to add some electrolytes into my rides as I was getting cramps late in the rides. Could be fatigue from work but I wanted to try them anyway.

Pedialyte Sport packets work well but on the expensive side at $2 per packet.  Found Liquid IV on ebay, , 30 packets,  comes out to $1 per packet.  Propel packets at Wally World,  box of 10 for under $2. Wow,  now that's a  bargain,   25 CENTS  per packet and it has the same electrolytes as Gatorade but with a variety of B vitamins.  Hey, I'll take it.

I  used Liquid IV today but read up on how and when to drink.  Ah ok, I had been drinking them early in the ride  but suggested is in the second hour of cycling. From then till the end.

So it worked better for me today.  And I drank Propel at break vs the Gatorade powder I usually drink.

So doing a longer ride today of 60, either I got lucky,  the electrolytes worked, or   I dunno.  I felt good today   that's what matters. 😄

Off course,  every long ride deserves a Campfire Feast at Black Angus..

Awesome Day and the Little Things

And I mean LITTLE THINGS. 😄

Gina's Mom has this little bench. About 18 inches high, miniature little park bench. Metal all rusted, wood dried out. I felt sorry for the dried out little thing that sits out in her front yard.

So I asked how she felt about me perking it up a bit. She said her son,  my BIL promised to do it for her about 5 years ago. I didn't want to interfere with his deed but she says if she waits any longer for him,  it'll be another 5 years 🤣

So I took it to work asking my boss if she wouldn't mind.  She said go ahead.

Then Gina took her Mom to Home Depot for some stain. She picked an antique type color,  stain and sealer.  $5, not bad.

I disassembled it   painted, stained,  then put it back together. Wow, MIL was so happy.  She loves it!

She's so funny. I put it back where it was in her front yard. She said NO NO NO!  It's so nice   somebody might steal it. 😆😄😆

But this woman has been so good to me so it was nice to put a smile on her face. 😊

Solo Recovery on San Gabe

Another 20 miles today. Easy as can be ride on the San Gabriel Trail.

Testing out my Liquid IV electrolyte packets.  $1 per packet vs $2 for Pedialyte Sport.  Today I found Propel at Wally  World,  10 packets for $2.50. Best price so far so I hope they work.  25 cents per packet. Heck

even if they aren't quite as good for that price,  be good on the shorter rides.

So I'm still testing and trying to figure out how to run my electrolytes. I think I've done best drinking some the night before.  An Electrolit or similar.

Anyway,  another good solo ride from Pico Rivera to City of Hope   the back way avoiding the dam climb ha ha ha.

Don't know why but I keep finding myself making this face while I ride ha ha ha 😅

Every Hot Ride......

 ....deserves an ice-cream! 😄

50 solo miles at 15.7 average speed.

Though Ron and Dixie caught me on the way back.

Of course I would cramp just riding along with them chatting.  Been using Pedialyte Sport over the last couple of weeks and haven't cramped.

But I figured I'd try Liquid IV as  well seeing it's less expensive and some have given it really good reviews.  Got a box of 30 packets on ebay for 34 bucks.

But maybe it cramped just from fatigue of work and lifting stuff in the heat. I dunno but I'll have to further test it out  with 26 more packets  yeah ha ha ha. Maybe just a bad day.

But I did set out for 50 seeing Jose is in AZ and no longer riding with. E. So he hadn't wanted to do 50 for the longest so now he's gone  figure I'll increase my mileage on Saturday rides. No leashes ha ha ha.

Did see fat Eric Pippins. Funny because it seems a group of 4 fit Asian riders caught him and were waiting to pass making it look like he was at the front of a group.  Man I wished I had my camera handy because that would probably have been the only time I've seen him at the front  ha ha ha.  He has a bad reputation for that among several riders we know ha ha ha.

But anyway   a decent ride though windy and 90 degrees.  Heck, doing 15 mph and blowing by other riders,  you know it's windy.

Yard Dog

Well, a guy wanted to try my task thinking it would be easy.  I asked if he liked working out in the sun. He said yeah, I'm a Yard Dog.

He tried it for a week.  Even after I explained the organization and flow of things, he totally screwed up the system and parts didn't get out. Screwed up the paper work  royally.

He was sweating so much that he had to go sit inside with the AC trying to cool his watering blood shot eyes.

Heck, he can have the job,  I'll go back inside to work where it's cool.  But management said heck o, he's already screwed up the system way too much.

I am kind of happy because I work alone and nobody bothers me.

Today I turned in my paperwork with each project and at the end of the day,  my supervisor said, MAN YOU GO THROUGH SO MANY PARTS DURING THE DAY!  I  said, I don't run around like a chicken with no head  I just organize.

He said whatever I'm doing,  it works.

I never claimed to be a yard dog,  but I get it done.  That's why they toss me the money,  I guess.

Makes me wonder though  if that softie is a yard dog, what am I? 😄

Here having fun in 100 degree heat. 😋

Gina says my clothes are getting baggy and wants me to buy new work pants but I can't see spending money on clothes that are going to get destroyed. I'll finish these off first.

What is funny to me,  is that now I'm making just as much money using my brawn as I was using my brain.  Doing technical work,  quality control reports and blueprint stuff was much more frustrating.

Now I just show up,  organize the order in which parts to do, then do it! So it's much nicer without all the frustration.

Oh yeah, my boss Rosie tossed me another hundy for working hard. I'll take it ha ha ha.  About the third time in couple of months.  Says she appreciates my efforts.

AND, I got a raise. 💰

Solo Spider 🕷 Beanz Ride

Solo 20  easy ride on the SGRT. Well as easy as one can seeing it's uphill one way and windy the other.

Trying out some Pedialyte Sport electrolyte drink mix. Wearing steel toe boots in the sun is taxing on the legs by the end of the week so trying to avoid cramps.  I drink a  lot of water at work but they have also been providing Pedialyte electrolyte packets so I drink a couple bottles of that too. So I figured why not try it at home.

Bee using it the last couple weeks and actually feeling good.  Could be the placebo effect but hey, I feel better.  Been reading about the electrolytes so maybe I'm just feeling the effects now. I'll know over time but for now with working into sun and heat all week   I'll try it out.

90 at the end of my ride but finished before the high of 95 expected.

Gets warm out here.

And of course,  Gina's at home in the cool air laughing at me. That's ok  I'll have her out on the bike again sometime soon.
