Nice ride from Glendora to San Dimas Cyn with TC. First off, almost 390 miles for July so I'm good having one more ride day planned. Easily break 400. Got the call from TC yesterday asking if I'd be interested, OK! Nice ride with about 1800 ft of gain. Warn day but didn't feel too hot to me. Max said 100 but I would not have thought it was that hot. I did feel a hot wave about 75% into the ride. I mentioned it to TC and he said he could feel the heat and getting to him. I felt it but the device read 93 at that point and I felt more like 80 other than a hot breeze. Funny though, almost all day long it felt cool while we were moving.
TC rode strong and my legs were frying trying to keep in sight in the canyon. He finished a minute or so before me and looking good though he said he felt like stopping at a couple of points. You know me, a big guy just making my way up but today with frying legs. I think from the longer Sunday ride with some effort that was still in my legs. Oh well, all part of getting back into shape. TC was supposed to have some kind of plasma injection treatments for his bad knee but seems the medical field is screwing up so it's a little twisted right now, hoping he gets it straight so he can get his knee fixed.
But a good ride then a post ride meal with Gina and her Mom Cecee. Poor Cecee, her son had some kind of an anger period this week dealing with some sheot going on in his domain, poor guy! So he was a little grumpy on Friday so Cecee needed some cheering up. I think Sizzler and a trip to the mall for a cup of coffee and people watching did the trick.
BTW, on the last video with Sandra, I brought up the fact that TC and Mark went riding without me. The fact is they did but didn't bother me seeing I'm a big boy now. But I did explain to TC that I had brought up the point as someone told me something about their similar experience, friends no inviting them to ride along which was sad. So I brought up the scenario in the video chat to make a point for someone with a recent experience. So I acted like a baby about it but fact is, didn't bother me at all. And I think thar person knew who I was talking about ha ha ha! Your welcome ha ha ha!
A good day to ride!
Ya know it's funny! So many riders complain about traffic but again today, had about 5 drivers shield us from traffic. Going down Cataract, car stayed behind us on a narrow street till we finished the stretch. I always give a wave to these cool drivers. Again on Amelia heading towards Gladstone where the road narrows. We made a left then a quick right up a short steep grade. The same car sat behind us till we were done with the climb then went around. As well as heading up Glendora Ave. We were approaching the park entrance where we started. Two cars approaching in the opposite direction. I was rolling up and signaled to turn left into the driveway. No turning lane here so I must wait till it's clear and hope cars don't come up from behind me, us. I signaled and the two cars heading the opposite direction stop and allow us to turn into the driveway, stopping about 6 cars behind them. Wow, I really appreciate these drivers and this is what makes it so hard to believe on cycling forums and facebook about all the drivers want to kill us stories and edited videos that don't show the whole truth.
Dayum, somebody been working out! :-P
