Emerald Necklace Loop & Plug in Play TV ?

Solo 30 mile loop today. Tried out the new road that Sandra suggested to connect the top of the necklace pattern. I've seen plenty of signs and courses claiming to be the Emerald Necklace. The city websites also show it as well as the legend at the EN Bike Hub park that they made in the Santa Fe Dam Nature center. Cool deal but I couldn't figure out how to connect the clasp section. The online maps aren't clear and when riding that way, there are rock quarries and dirt trails blocked off by fences. I don't think I'd be happy riding through the dirt dodging bulldozers etc.

So Sandra had shown me her version once on the ride but new to this area, I'm not really sure where I was ha ha ha! So we did it again but this time she showed me and even better way to avoid some of the semi trucks on Peck Rd. Worked like a charm then the street I thought would be the busiest wasn't actually bad as I was going against traffic. First time with Sandra, we went counter clockwise that put us in traffic so this time, the opposite direction was sweet. Couple tight spots where I could take the lane but approaching intersections, I'd swerve out towards the crosswalk on the green allowing 3 or so cars to pass before I took the lane with nobody behind me. Nice!

Putting together a TV late last night, my back felt a little pinch in the lower section. Old age I guess ha ha ha. Actually, those stupid little screws to hold the legs on are lousy and  trying to screw them in by hand was a pain taking some good effort while twisting in weird positions. But I got it done.

Silly TV in the bedroom went blank and not realizing how much Gina and I would miss watching Leave it to Beaver while hitting the sack, I actually missed the TV for once. After a couple of nights, we headed over to Best Buy and found a nice enough Pioneer at a good price for a 40 inch. Smart Roku tv I think what it is.

I told the dude I wanted a simple tv that I could just plug it in, the HDMI into the cable and play it. He said it was an easy plug and play type tv. OKAY! Gee, going online to set up an account just to turn the tv on, several email mesages, text messges for codes, register this, assign this plug and that plug, creating a Roku account is not what I consider plug and play easy. Whew, but I got it and seems cool enough though I could do without all this stuff. But I got it ha ha ha!

So this morning, I sure didn't feel like riding laying in bed with a little pinch in my lower back. But nothing else to do so I got up and headed out. Doing the course, felt a little windy at first and wind heading uphill is never fun, but it was. About a quarter of the way through the ride, I started feeling really good and very happy that I went.  Actually ended up feeling really good and strong after a bit and no sign of any back discomfort. I dunno, always been the type that if I was hurting or feeling sick, a ride would cure that for me. Don't think I ever once went out not feeling well that I didn't return feeling better. Even the day after a root canal ha ha ha!

Did get a little chance to try out a place that has been catching my eye lately when we visit Millie's Not into sports bars but this is a pizza place and I am a pizza lover. Pizza Chalet. Had a friend that worked at one 45 years ago as a teen.. Not sure if they are connected being in Upland and this one in Covina.

But they have some good specials. $35 for a pizza, wings, salad bar for 2, free bread and chips with salsa. Worth a try and Gina actually thought the pizza was the best. Some really good week day deals. Steaks for $11 type stuff, meatball sandwiches, BBQ rib medallion meals. Stuff worth trying at a good price so I think we will be back. Like 15 TVs around and every wall so can't miss the sports action.

This was that day but tonight, we went into the mall as usual.  Walking into the section where we sit and sip coffee and soda, we end up getting greeted by several mall workers.  Girl at the chicken place, nut sample girl, 4 at the jewelry store, the cell phone guy, and a couple from a second jewelry store.

The lady at Mrs. Field's Cookies where we get our coffee was laughing with Gina tonight. She said that when we walk in, it looks like we're in a parade as we walk up the aisle waving and saying hi to everybody ha ha ha!
