I have to say the saddle is quite nice. Lots of reviews on the net and on forums but I didn't believe it. Now I do! Now if this thing lasts a year or two, I'll be really happy. I have had a few good saddles. My favorite was the Terry Fly I used to get for $60 or so. Now the suckers want $175!!! Are they crazy?! I like them but not willing to pay that much. Hopefully I can find something that works for me and I have. WTB saddle feel pretty good to me and no real complaints. Used them over the last few years seeing Terry is gone way up!
But the WTB was OK but not have sat on a saddle that gave the feeling Terry did back in 05 when I got my first. 3 saddles over the years till they went bonkers with their prices. many times it is a matter of principle to me. I like it but if I pay that much, I'd feel like a schmuck!
So the second I sat on the Charge Spoon saddle, I thought this felt like the feeling Terry gave me when I first sat on it as a first ride. So I'm happy, for $28 !!!??? I'm a believer!
Got it on ebay from a store called Trailthis. Sadly they sold out so I saw another place that had them for $28 but with the white logo on the side. Mine is black. But another place has 10 available, according to their post at $32 which is still a great price. Some others on ebay for the same saddle want $66. Hmm, maybe they don't realize that the other stores are selling them for $30 or they're waiting for some schmuck to pay the high price!
So anyway, the ride went well and the butt is happy. I started a bit earlier today but it still was not as heavily trafficked as a couple of weeks ago around Imperial. Quite a few riders but it was rolling so there were no backed up sections of the trail today. From the last wooden bridge heading south to the coast was crowded a little bit but funny, the final strip was pretty much empty.
The good thing is that ALL, yes I said ALL, of the south side restrooms at the building where we stop were open today. They really opened it. Last few times before they closed the beach, only 3 units were open. So that is a good thing!
But freaking roadies! I read so many comments on cycling forums how dangerous the families, kids, and cruisers are. But in actuality, it's the morons who think it's a closed time trial course that make it dangerous. OK ASS HOLE, YOU'RE FAST BUT NOT WORTH SENDING SOMEBODY TO THE HOSPITAL SEEING YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE .0001 ON YOU AVERAGE SPEED!!!!
Today I was approaching a couple on mountain bikes, obviously cruising to the coast. I see them, ring my bell and try to time it as I see 3 guys coming in the opposite direction. So I slow a little bit hoping to let them pass but I am to the left of my lane getting ready. I ring my bell, shout out then that split second that everybody passes each other, some moron comes flying through. It's a good thing that I did not try to squeeze through myself or we would have all went down. What a moron! Probably some jerk face time trialing over an amazing 5 mile course.
Later in the ride, on my way back, I'm approaching an underpass with some dude wearing headphones on a MTB. I ding my bell and not sure if he can hear me though he is to the right. He starts heading down then I start myself just as I hear something coming up from behind. Well darn, it is a fast flying paceline of maybe 10 guys doing a pretty good clip. I was doing about 20 and I know they were doing way better.
So I shout out to the guy, rides coming from behind. He didn't flinch but again OK as he is to the right now that we are approaching the bottom point of the underpass. I slow way down figuring the fast guys have room to pass. If I try to beat them, I could cause KAOS ( too much Get Smart!) so I just slow a bit giving them room to pass.
Then I hear the guy at the front shout SLOWING! I kept my position to the right behind the MTB slowing a bit. The dude at the front shouts IT'S OK, YOU'RE GOOD GO AHEAD!! So if it is better for the group, I went around the MTB guy and cranked it up so I would not slow them too much. Get the the flat section then they went around. Most gave a greeting.
Ya, see! That is the way it should be. If you have to slow for another rider, do it! If you have to back off, think about what is going on, do it! If you have to step on it so you don't cause a commotion, do it! Think about what is going on, where you're going, where the others are going. Use your freaking head so that we can all get home safely whether you're riding a beach cruiser, MTB, roadie, unicycle, just freaking thing about it. Nobody's average speed is worth going to the hospital! Odds are, you really aren't that fast anyway or you'd be in the Tour de France!
I started at 9 am. This is about an hour later. See the heavy traffic and the problems behind me caused by all the beach cruisers that the forum morons are crying about. Traffic too heavy? WTH !! I had smooth sailing today. All traffic was rolling, no obstacles and almost empty on the return. I think forum people just like to whine about everything and anything they assume and don't really know about. Heck, I posted the block at the beach a while back and some dope just posted it on the forum a couple days ago ha ha! Where have they been?
Peek a boo with my bike. Empty restroom facilities today.
That dude named Rheo (?) Super fast dude but even he knew better to slow down when we hit some traffic. Couple of bikes in the opposite land but some moron jogging in the lane against us. I only saw Rheo for like a minute then he blasted off ha ha!
After the ride, doing some poser stuff!
Fat Bastard kicking back!
Really liking this saddle. Notice I didn't say love. If it lasts a year I will say love ha ha! That gives it the durability factor as well. Though I have read it's well made in other reviews. One guy did complain about the finish. But that was a white saddle with black stripes or something weird like that. They do have some crazy designs but you know they were out. Just give me a plain black and I'm happy.
Helmet hair. Wait a second, really my hair is like this all the time now that the barbers have been closed. Oh well, I'm just happy to have hair a week away from my 57th birthday.
Just a pic of a marble I found in the back yard while digging up some old posts that were in the way. I figure I lost it when I was about 10 when I was heavy into marbles. So that makes it about 47 years underground. It was oblong and distorted though the pic doesn't show it. Couldn't get it to stay in the position I wanted for the pic.
A close up of Gina's eye using a mag filter on my camera. I shined my bike headlight into her eye from the side hoping to get some detail from her eye. Didn't come out too clear because like the marble, Gina couldn't hold the position I needed for too long. She said the light was hot and she had a hard time holding it to her eye without flinching ha ha! Kind of cool though, the detail in her eye. Almost looks like threads. My eyes are so dark that if I shot my eye, it would come out a dark brown almost black flat image ha ha!
