Solo 20 miles from Pico to Santa Fe Dam and back.
Met a cool guy at the start but I forgot his name. Plenty of Forty Niner stuff on his truck and jersey. 😄
Just a ride to keep the legs spinning.

Solo 41 miles at 15.8 average speed. Powered by homemade Salsa. Mother in law loves making salsa and I love eating it 😋 Pico de Gallo, is her favorite and I love eating that too ha ha ha.
So rolling to the coast, I was soft pedaling. Not realizing how windy it was till I was half way there, 10 miles in. I noticed that all the riders heading the opposite way seemed to be struggling. None were going fast. So I knew I'd better conserve.
Soft pedaling with a 17.2 average for the 20 miles to the coast, 20 miles. Sure enough when I headed back, I felt the stiff headwind. Heart rate of 155 doing 13 mph and passing others ha ha ha.
The first 10 miles back, average dropped 1 whole mph. Bummer but a good workout. I did see a group of 4 guys in orange kits. Seemed friendly enough and after 3 miles of wind heading back, I THOUGHT about latching on as they rolled by seeing they were gradually passing me at a pace not sprinting.
But! As good as it sounded, I chose to pass and stay on my own to build some character. 😄 I always feel like I'm cheating myself when I take a ride that makes my ride easier. I'd rather get the workout and struggle a bit rather than take the easy way out, really does build character. 😁
My HR should be 160 but resetting the target at 180 looks a little more right to me. So the numbers today seem to match what I was feeling.
Solo 30 before going out of town so no weekend rides. Adjusting my HR target so I tried staying in 140'ish today trying to hold zone 4. Saw some dude a mile ahead about 1 mile in. 8 miles later I pass him but I guess he's worried about shaming his race kit so he HAS to pass me back. Then he fades and I pass him again so he takes my wheel, really? I wave him around and tell him to go if he's going to go. Get stopped at the light as he's there 10 seconds ahead of me. I look at him and laugh. He doesn't respond but then races off thinking I shamed his team jersey. 😆😄😆

Got Screwed Bike Tour 😄 New screws for the gopro mounts. $12 for a few to add to my collection. New HR target. Raised to 180 seeing I spent like 1.5 hours in zone 5 yesterday. Zones looked more reasonable today. Solo Pico to the Santa Fe Dam.

Felt good today after 2 weeks off, thanks to Laughlin.

Solo 40 today. Around mile 25, passed a couple youngsters. One very skinny decked out in a race kit. 3 guys. A couple minutes later, the race dude passes me back. He gets about 40 yards ahead then begins to struggle. I end up passing him again.
A few minutes later, he and his buddy team up passing me again. They get about 40 yards again. Then they both fade and I catch up again. As I catch up, they say something then blast off. They get about 40 yards again and I figure I'll catch up again holding my pace.
As they get the 50 yards, they both pull off the road and lean over their bikes as if to puke. The race kit guy didn't look at me as I rolled by but the second guy did. He smiled and waved then I recognized him. Same thing a few weeks ago. He went in full bore about 10 miles then pulled off to turn back.
I'm guessing they're 10 mile wonder type of riders. 😄
No cycling, hit up Laughlin instead with Gina and my MIL instead. Gina brought home an extra $900 and my MIL $700.
Not very busy and a smooth trip all around. Should have gone to see the Elvis tribute concert but I got lazy. Spend my time drinking McDonald's frappes instead while they played the slots.
I did take a few pics just for funzies! 😄
It was nice though because we took her about 5 years ago and she just about cried saying it would probably be the last time she'd see Laughlin being 78. Now 83, we've taken her about 6 more times. About 3 in the last 4 months so I think she's pretty happy. 🙂
24 solo miles. Nice short ride to start the year. Cranky Old Bastard Ride. Would have done a longer ride but golf course parking lot closes early today. My gloves, yes one of those guys with 2 other nearly new pair in the equipment bag but I still wear the scrappers. 😄
