Ride with Mark

40 miles with Mark today.  15.8 average speed in 94 degree heat.  His first long ride in quite some time and he did great.  Not feeling too confident about showing up,  I told him that if he got tired,  he could sit on my wheel.  I'm not out to race anyone.  Those who know me know that I enjoy riding while keeping things together.  Vs some of those that I might hold back to make sure they keep up only to have them sprint around or even run stop signs and red lights just so they can feel like they're "winning ".

Knowing Mark hadn't done any long rides and with the heat,  he did great.  To the coast he held his own nicely. On the return,  it was hot and he said he was feeling the heat.  I suggested we slow the pace and as I told him before,  he could take my wheel to recover.  So he did then started to recover.  Just before hitting the park there is a gentle climb.  He had pretty much recovered by then but I know the course and he doesn't so I told him to slow down for the next 50 yards to catch his breath because we were approaching a little climb before the park. It worked because he went up pretty easily.  Nice when you get a hint of what's ahead.

I got us a couple little ice treats. Neither of us really wanted the sugar but they were cold and the temperature was in the mid 90's. So we had about half.  As much as I hate to throw stuff away,  we cooled down enough to make the final 6 miles comfortably.

I think he was pretty happy with his performance as was I.  I wasn't expecting him to do so well with the heat butvthis ladies and gentlemen,  is what I mean when I say  RIDE TOGETHER.   Holding it steady to recover without the macho bs.

In the end, we both had a great ride and nice to help someone on the comeback trail.  Always been strong so some saddle time will definitely help him reach his goal. Heck, both of us are old dudes now needing as much help as we can get ha ha ha 😂

High of 107. 🔥

BTW, these friggin' idiots on motorbikes are getting carried away. I would say we were doing 17 at one point, some idiot behind us starts blaring on his horn about 40 yards back. Who would expect he would catch up withing seconds? Probably doing 35, he rolls up on us blaring his horn. Kind of surprised, Mark moves over to the right so the motorcycle idiot can pass. As the moron rolls by, he starts tapping his ear as if we are supposed to listen for freaking idiots doing 40 on the trail. F that guy, I tried to flip him off but he rolled by too fast. Moron!

Too many stupid idiot morons on motorized bikes. Did you see the pic I posted in my last posts? I'm pointing to a sign that states, NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES OR MOTORIZED BICYCLES. Friggin' MORON !!!
