Testing Video

Trying to make a video test

Well, haven't had my good stuff but felt like testing the waters with a cheap free download off the net. An old laptop and my cell phone.

I recorded with a go pro trying to see if I can come up with anything at all. It worked so hopefully I can come up with something even if it's short.

So here's the result from a little fiddling around today.  I  had the intro made couple years back on a memory stick so I tried it too.

I  think I can come up with something on the bike soon. 😃

Solo Night Ride

Solo 20 miles at night.  Don't get dark soon enough.  I actually enjoy riding in the dark of night nowadays.

Some dude john went flying by me on Bonita. Turns out he was coming from the Bud's ride. Those dudes are fast. But I caught him at the stop light. Then he backed off and we rode together chatting about bikes. Cool dude! Then I hit my turn and said be safe!

Solo Steady Old Fart

 https://www.relive.cc/view/vYvrVPy5pxv

Solo 24 on SGRT from Pico to Liberty park and back.  Kept a steady pace after a warm up. 16.0 average speed.

Funny,  some dude sitting on the side of the road on a sweet bike.  I do my thing then 5 miles down the road he's on the back of 2 guys sucking wheel.  But another 5 miles,  there he I'd ha ha ha.  Timed him perfectly to pass going up an underpass.  Boom, he's gone looking pretty toasted. Too many people always trying to outdo themselves. 😄

I did try to keep my heart rate around the 140 zone.  60 percent this time.  Seems I was able to keep it a little higher longer today.  That's 👍.

I did try out this strap on Saturday.  Less than 10 bucks. Good reviews claiming to be comfortable.  I  liked it, good on the 41 mile ride.  Didn't even know it was there. I bought it as a backup to the one Tony gave me.  A little wear on it and knowing me, I go snooping around to see what's available once I get exposed to new gadgets.😄

Broken Pulley Tour

I did not know one could ride with a broken Pulley. I did order replacements but won't be here till midweek.  Saw it while lubing my drive train yesterday.  Read up on it, said it would still work.  It did run smooth but I tried not to stress it out too much. 🤣

Solo 40 from Pico Rivera to the Azusa mountains.

Night Ride in California

https://www.relive.cc/view/vNOPQyNBZ26

Solo 20 miles tonight. Ride in California Tour. Not so sure about this heart rate monitor, keeps telling me that I'm a slacker. 🤣 The pic is my face trying to take a selfie on an 8% grade and the camera won't cooperate. 🤣 Only caught the 7.5 on cam.

Not so sure I'm liking this HR monitor thing. It keeps telling me that I'm a slacker. 🤣 Tonight I tried to keep it between 136 and 145. Seems I did pretty good thinking zone 4 started at 136. Little overlap I guess but kept it close to my plan.

125 BPM Official TDF Bottle Tour

Solo 25 from Pico to Santa Fe Dam. Tried to stay around 125 BPM to see how I felt after pushing 172 yesterday. 160 is my max so I figured after yesterday, I'd see what it was like to back off and follow a structured plan. Not that it's a plan, just heard one should go easy for recovery. Now with the monitor, I can see what I'm doing. And the bottle, a gift from Tony who went to watch the TDF in person.

Actually takes some discipline to stay on target.

SART with Tony

41 miles at 16.3 average speed. Good ride with Tony.  Conversation pace but Tony kicked it up on the way back. That's why he gave me the HR monitor.  He wanted to see how much he could torture me on the way back. 🤣😂🤣

Average heart rate is 160 but getting it up to 172. 😄

Night Ride 20 Miles (Safe Drivers)

Hello Darkness My Old Friend Tour. 😄😄😄 Glendora to La Verne and back. First time using a heart rate monitor.  Buddy Tony gave me his old one after buying a new one.  My max HR should be 160 being 60 years old. . Once I hit the little 8% climb, it went up to 162 so I pushed harder at the top hitting 170. 10 points above my max. I'll have to look it up to see what that means.  😄 Nice ride, cool and dark. Love these reflector ankle bands.

Again I must mention those safe helpful drivers. I don't have the issues I read about so often.  I will say I try to position myself in the best places possible to keep myself safe.

Last night  just about dark heading east on Foothill getting ready to make a left to San Dimas canyon park area.  I look back after avfew cars pass and my turn coming up quickly.  Well darn, an SUV close an a bunch of cars behind him a ways back, I'm not going to make it but rather be patient than taking a chance of getting hit.

So I have my arm up to turn left. SUV must see my sit-cheeation so he slows pretty hard allowing me to cross the wide lanes in order to make my turn, AWESOME!!  Of course we all get stopped atvthe intersection,  I'm in the left turn lane and THE SUV  heading straight.  As my left turn arrow turns green,  I shove off but raise my arm back to shoot the guy a thumbs up 👍.

THEN!!! Towards the end of my ride heading west, I'm in a nice bike lane rolling about 22 mph approaching an intersection.  It's dark and I'm well lit but a car passes me on my left well ahead of time to make a right before I reach the intersection,  safe pass.

I'm still rolling though backed off a hair seeing a car in the opposite direction getting ready to make a left. The other car up still up ahead making the right, I hope the guy getting ready to cross paths with me session me and my lights avoiding a collision.  Pretty sure he does as I have a helmet light and I can swing my head in his direction to alert him something is going on, I'm there!

But this was a totally awesome move by the guy that had passed me on my right ahead of time. Again,  a big intersection with plenty of space.  Byt the driver making the right turn ahead of me starts his turn but stalls in the midst of his turn so the car coming opposite getting ready to turn does not have a clear passage so he's pretty much forced to stop, look around figuring out, if he hadn't already, that something was going on.

Wow! I am totally amazed at how much a driver can help us out on the road,  even protect us with a small maneuver and taking a few seconds of concern to keep us safe!

Ok, now this other asshat on Facebook.  He's talking about how he coal rolls cyclists because once he was on a twisty winding road towing his 30 ft trailer but had to stomp his brakes almost killing his family because he approched a group of cyclists from behind.  Real cyclist hater. Really, your family almost died because he was driving too fast driving a truck and 30 ft trailer with his family aboard?

I  did mistake his post thinking he was going down hill but eithercway, he had to be driving faster than what is safe.

He didn't like my comment so he sent this pm threatening physical violence and posted it in he comments.  Probably got put in Facebook jail for it because I was unable to reply.

But I welcome him to visit California making that special trip to beat my ass. Hardly doubt I'd be intimidated by a short little fat truck driver. 😆😄😆

After Rain Heat

Rain pretty good in the morning so I waited but with a late start,  it got hot. 98 on my GPS at the end. Pico to Santa Fe Dam recreation area. But rode to the end of the dam first.

Some bike people are too funny.  One idiot on bike groups is preaching to everyone that they should spend 200 bucks for a fitting.  Then I read his bike ride reports and the idiot is struggling to do a 30 minute ride. What's that, 6 or 7 miles?🤣

He got upset when I called him on it. If I want the seat up my asshole, he's been riding 20 years, he's done tougher rides than me, says he has far more miles, I'm nothing compared to him but yet he took 5 years off cause of life.

Uhh ok, I've been riding 27 with a month off at the most. Only crybabies stop because it gets too rough.

27 years,  he's 20 years with 5 off because he's a crybaby.

But he's preaching $200 fittings because he can do 30 minutes now! 😆😄😆

Smooth Solo Spider Ride

Solo 41 from Pico to Seal Beach and back.  Got 3 PR'S on Strava,  I'll take it. One is from Seal Beach back to Pico, nice.

https://www.relive.cc/view/vKv2YPJBVoq

Met a dude at the park heading South.  Cramps so I gave him a Liquid IV.  Cool guy liking my jersey.  Exchanged names I rolled out then wondered if it was the same John I recorded years ago YouTube.  Though I saw David and Phuong near the coast. 🤔 Long boring lonesome trail but somebody has to do it.
