43 SART with Tony

 43 miles on the trail with Tony. 15.9 average speed doing a chit chat pace. Until a couple riders here and there decided to Challenge Tony (TC). Rough at times but a good ride. Ran across Alyce who was doing a metric. Then ran into her later at the coast.

Had a chat with some cool dudes on those electric things, whatever they are called. Ran into them at Edna Park after they passed us with a whistle device warning and plenty of caution that we appreciate.

Lady that shouted that she liked my Old Fart jersey as we crossed paths earlier.

No Ride Sunday But Productive

 All week calling for rain 🌧 on Sunday so I made other plans.  But wake up Sunday morning and it's 🌞 sunny,  freaking weather man!

Gina went for groceries as I showered for a breakfast date.  Got a bit late so make it lunch. On the way looking for a place to eat, ran across an open stereo shop that I'd seen on the net, good reviews.  Been thinking about a new stereo as my speaker started rattling a few months back.  Other than hating to waste my time at service shops,  I just hadn't had it done. 

But today,  passing the shop, Gina suggested we drop in. Ok, no hassle dude named the price for new pioneer speakers and stereo unit.  I was willing to spend more but no hassle guy said no, this is all you need for your truck space. Gotta trust guys like this so I went for it.  

Wow, I know I'm behind the times vs millennial but dang, sweet! Bluetooth,  remote, so many adjustments I don't know what to do with them,  phone connection,  I'm happy 😊 

Had a little wait so Gina and I walked down to Outback for lunch.  Ribeye,  sides, appetizers,  so Gina just had a shrimp plate. Boy having cut back on my intake over the last few months,  I just can't eat like I used to. I actually forced myself a bit just because I haven't lately.  But, once in a long while might remind me what I feel like when overeating   like sheot ha ha ha.  But actually good for me because I realize how much better I feel and do eating well.  

After all the work I had done to my truck lately   running much smoother and now with a new stereo and speakers,  it's that much quieter ha ha ha. 

Also walked by a closing Joanne's craft store. Gina wanted to browse and nothing I'd want to see.  Other than this little planter/vase thing I saw. I picked it up for my MIL Cecee seeing she loves caring for 🪴 plants and is a little older now.  😆😆😆 Sometimes I wet my plants. 😁

But most of all, hoping to get Gina back on the bike someday. It was so much fun riding with her but life has gotten in the way but hopefully, someday. Heck, the tandem is waiting! Miss my little partner.

Solo 40 Saturday

 Solo 40 miles, Pico to Seal Beach, 15.9 average speed. Testing out some West Biking gloves from Ebay. Pretty good for $14. Good padding and fit well with reflective strips, XXL. Used RockBros but gone up to $17 from $14 and seem thinner in the palm. Comparing the 2 new pair. Sure felt windy today and after no riding for couple of weeks, felt Laughlin in my legs ha ha ha!

Funny thing, maybe old age but I look at my bike and still love it. I think about new bikes and have no desire. Maybe I'm a guy who doesn't like change, I dunno !? I see other dudes, and dudettes on some sweet looking bikes but does nothing for my heart. Not sure why but no envy there. I have seen a couple of sweet maroon Madones that look nice and if I were to have cycle envy, it would be that model but when I think about it, not for me. I'm happy with my oldie 1997/98 CAD3. Paid $1063 back in 98 and done some upgrades as needed and still enjoy riding it. Can't say I would enjoy a new bike any more than this. It's more the riding for me that is enjoyable, feeling the body do things that stimulate my mind.

Maybe someday it I run into a jackpot, I might buy a new bike. I can afford one now but no desire so it would have to be a jackpot ha ha ha! But the thought of changing to tubeless, disk brakes, and all that stuff does nothing for me but make me think I don't want all that stuff because it ain't going to do anything different for me imo. Heck, I have and see others on sweet bikes that don't seem to show any improvements ha ha ha! And when I think about it, if I can keep up with you while riding my 1998 oldie, you're in trouble ha ha ha!

Then dinner at Los Jarritos and the mall with Pinky ! 😁
