ANOTHER!!!!! Freakin' Face STING!!!!!

Ride video. Always puzzles me (2:25 into the video). The 4 of us are maintaining a consistent pace. We roll up on some dude having a hard time into the wind. He hops on the back to suck wheel, no problem. But after some distance the dude shoots around us and sprints his butt off. For what reason I don't know, I can never figure it out. We are not racing the dude, we aren't sprinting, we are merely holding a a pace trying to keep the 4 of us rolling together.

This is just too funny! I guess he was trying to impress us ha ha! So the dude sprints around and holds the pace for what, 100 yards? I'm laughing telling Gina, I bet this fool turns off the trail real soon. Sure enough, he turns off and crosses over the overpass looking back at us as we roll by. Uhh yeah, look at us dude, we were killing ourselves trying to catch you but you were just like waaaaaay too much for us ha ha! I really wanted to send Aimee and Gina off to chase him down just to make him feel the foolish that he is. But I knew he'd turn off and be a waste of time and energy once he turned off.

I know I shouldn't even try to figure it out but I can't help but wonder, is it like "hey, that dude that looks like he hit the Vegas buffets all week shouldn't be able to pass me like that!" or "hey those girls can't pass me the macho man, like I'm standing still  and get away with it!". BTW, I did hit the Vegas buffets all week! ;-) But I dunno, the more I see riders like this the more I realize how insecure people are in life. Us, we do our best and if we get passed, we get passed and for a reason, the other guy is just better!

Pretty silly but this gave me an idea. I have a buddy (Jason A) that does GMR all the time, he's #20 to the shack out of how many thousands of riders on that Strava segment? Way better climber than I will ever be but my idea is that next time he passes me on GMR, I'm going to sprint around him for 20 yards then stop and pull over and ask him as he rolls by, "How did you like that, pretty impressive hunh?". I wonder what he'll say bwahahahaha!

Can  you believe it?! 3rd one in the last couple months. The ear, inside actually, one between the eyes, and this one right below my right eye. Say good bye to my pretty face for another few days. OK, I don't really think I'm pretty and I want to make that clear cause some of you people out there take things too seriously ha ha! 10 miles into the 44 mile ride some stupid bee stings me right below my right eye. I can feel it swelling already even though we did a very quick job or removing the stinger. I can only hope that it doesn't get like the last sting (ugly pic below somewhere). Now if I could see the bees coming I might be able to swap them, I have before. But the bees that get me get me by surprise. I didn't even see this one as usual. A little tick on the face and a fraction of a millisecond later, BURN!

Luckily this time I brought along some Bendryl and some hydro cortisone cream. I heard taking Bendryl right away will help, yeah right! I'd doomed once again. Good thing is as always, I don't swell much for a good 12 -16 hours. I was teasing Gina saying their goes our night of romance but she replied, Hey, I'll just turn of the lights". See now is that a good woman or what ha ha!

So anyway we continue the ride and I'm feeling all kinds of stuff. I almost feel as if I'm going blind out of my right eye. Nope, we got to the coast, saw a couple of bikinis and  you know, my years are OK!  I'm o the front huffing and puffing thinking now the sting has got me to an allergic reaction and I can't breath. Nope, I can justify the sucking air to the buffet visits in Vegas last week ha ha! I'm OK but funny how things can play with your mind.

SO I figure my eye will shut for a couple of days but thank goodness the sun and coast were good to me giving me a few views to take in first knowing this eye won't see squat for a couple days!

First a ride pic, OK enough of that!

So before my eye swells shut I was able to take in a few sights. So there is a reason for everything, whatever                the reason bees love to chew on my face, at least I got to see something nice first ha ha!

I was a bit late on this shot but still worth posting I hope ;-)

OK, now this dude's eyes are not on the road and he got away with it using the slight head turn. Unless of course his wife views my blog, then he's in big trouble ha ha! I hope he's a better rider than driver, you aren't supposed to stare at oncoming headlights!

                                                        Yes,he is definitely in trouble!

OK, a little bonus video singing and playing my guitar. Might sound funny but if I keep getting stung in the face, I just might give up the bike and pursue my guitar career ha ha! OK not really but this sure is fun. Not very good but it's coming along with practice. I found a backing track on YT for "You Sexy Thing". I played along and it makes it so much easier to play than going solo. I really don't know they way the words go but I tried. This is the kind of stuff I put on my FB to entertain my relatives ha ha! They all think I;m crazy but hey, I can't look at pictures of kids for too long ha ha! Got to have some music!

SART 9/15/13

A nice 44.5 miler with Gina, Aimee and Jose on SART. Considering the way we felt last week the day after a GMR ride, we both felt pretty good on today's ride. A good 1 MPH improvement over last weeks' average. Ran into Stranger Ed (MTBLrkr) who we hadn't seen in a long time, still camera shy! Videos later but a few pics for now. Also crossed paths with Krylon and Bad Bob...WITH A HELMET???????

Oh crap! I remembered his name this morning, but it slipped my mind  at this moment.                                          But he's from Oceanside. RAY, that's it! Too many Boob pics ha ha!

It's funny because when I ran into Ed at the start, he said "hey it's that guy Mr. Beanz that can't get along with anybody ha ha! Good intro into this story. Gina and I stop off at Del Taco for a breakfast burrito before we ride. Sunday as we walked up some dude kind of surprised me as soon as I got out of my truck. HEY BUDDY! Check this out!.

I look at him and he's some kind of low life looking trashy looking dude. He says look what I got but I see the goods and right away I know he's going to try to sell it to me so I say in a somewhat rude voice, "no thanks, I don't deal in that kind of stuff!". Yeah, I was rude because either the thing is damaged or stolen and from the looks of this guy, I'd bet stolen.

He gets defensive and snaps at me "WHAT STUFF? YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IT IS!". Oh it's on MOFO! I respond with "You're kidding me dude! It's an FSA crank, from the looks of it, a compact with a 50/34 ring for a road bike". Then I say I know he is going to try to sell it and I don't deal with stolen or sheot that's sold out  on the street! Now do I know what STUFF I am talking about?

He says, "No, I wasn't going to try to sell it to you, I saw your bikes and just wondered if you knew what this was or not". Oh BULLSHEOT! You were going to try to sell it an I told you, I don't deal with that sheot! So now he starts to walk away ans says" oh yeah, well I have a 1988 Bianchi and it will whip a Cannondale!". He walks into the Del Taco via backdoor then we walk into the front to order. As soon as we do, he walks out and jumps on some old beat up looking jalopy of a bike and rides away with his skanky looking girlfriend.

Wow, he knows his sheot!  A Bianchi will whip a Cannondale? He really knows what he's talking about ha ha! Maybe I should apologize knowing the engine is the biggest factor, PFFT! So Gina says, "that dude got mad when you blew his game but you looked really mad when you snapped back at him". Yeah, I told him straight up I don't deal with that sheot! He didn't believe me I guess!

Of course to show I don't discriminate, there is some beefcake footage in this video for the women. An old man in a thong. I even slowed the footage down for good viewing. He's against the sun so it's a little hard to see so look hard ladies ha ha!

Wow, that is a nice tire! Schwalbe.

I honestly believer that if a cyclist rides a bike in a utility type of way,
two things are a must. Fenders and a nice rack!

It's a choice but I believe a cyclist should not wear anything that interferes with the hearing. Now tell the truth, if you wrapped those big things around your head while riding, you know your hearing would be muffled!

My Mr. Beans mobile again, though nobody really cares!

I honestly believe that cyclist should not use the cell phone while riding! BTW, the dude had a really goofy  look on his face and I blacked out his face cause honestly, nobody's going to look at him anyway ha ha!

I highly recommend against riding in swim trunks. I honestly
believe good cycling shorts are a must!

They're just sitting there talking like a couple of boobs!

I'm not the only one hearing voices ha ha!

                                                                     On the return

                                                               Another shot for fun!

GMR 9/14/13

Saturday was another nice GMR climb. Another early 7'ish am start to beat the heat so it wasn't too bad. Quickly ran into JMX doing one of his major climbing rides. GMR, Crystal Lake, Lil GMR and back. 100 miles with 13,000 ft, that's crazy! At the top we ran into GMR, Matt, and a couple of their friends Mark and Eric.

There she goes heading up GMR once again!

Well I was going to say Gina was dropping these riders but turns out it's
Vertical Bob! Blew my cover , can't make up any tall tales now!

                                                                        Go Bob Go!

Well Gina still has a one or two second lead ha ha!

7 am start produced some shade on GMR so the heat isn't all that bad

Newman's Point for a sweat break

The famous GMR Blogger (link is to the right of my blog)

Their friend Mark. Man I hope I got it right, I'll know when I view the video. ;-P

Matt in the light. Seems every pic I get is in the shade
and you can never really see what he looks like ha ha!

GMR Glass Bothers Me

Well I can't stand the thought of glass on GMR. Glass itself does not bother me, but the idiots that throw the bottles do. As I've said before, yes a flat riding up, ha ha you got me you butt hole but a flat going down? You idiots can seriously hurt somebody! There were two places that had broken bottles scattered across the road on Saturday's ride. Not something some idiot dropped but you could tell it was placed their intentionally. Last thing I need is an emergency room visit or worse, Gina getting seriously hurt because of some stupid dope! I enjoy my hobby but do what I can to avoid the danger for Gina and myself. The thought of that glass there just bothered me over the last few days. I had a chance to head up in the truck so I took a broom with me. Fortunately the sweeper must have went by because most of it was cleared off the road. There was still some glass here and there along the shoulder where we ride so I swept it up best I could. I went to both spots, about 3 miles up and then again at 4 miles where the idiots must hang out!

EDIT: Now that I think about it, there was a dude that used to ride his bike up with a push broom to sweep the road. I want to say his name was Bill (could be wrong). I wonder what happened to the guy.

What the heck, figured I'd make a video out of it ha ha!

Heading up there gave me a chance to check out the zoom on my new camera. Sony Cyber Shot 30 zoom DSCH200. Nothing fancy, couple hundred bucks but the zoo is cool. Much better on a clear day, this day was not clear at all but I just wanted to test it. Nice for those grandson football games etc.

Funny thing! I took a tripod that I had bought maybe 25 years ago. Never used it much so it's still seemed to be in great shape. Once I set it up, the top wiggled a bit. I fought with the red ring swivel type thing on it near the mount. Everything seemed fine but the little wiggle I couldn't get settled.  I fought with it for a quite some time. So I took the pics and when I told Gina the story, she said, "why don't you just screw that thing in right there?". Oh SNOT! Ha ha ha ha!

I forgot the arrow on this one. Lil GMR and the zoom is near the end of the left side

SART 42 Miler

I posted this weekends's ride video below in the GMR post. Mostly GMR and a little SART footage.

Decided to ride my Mr. Beans Mobile today. I ordered some spokes on line then built up this rear wheel for the bike. Wheel went together amazingly smooth. Good tension and the wheel went together in almost perfect dish. So very little messing with it other than twisting a few nipples ha ha! Legs warmed up quickly after a day on GMR but Gina did seem to tire half way through the ride. I was kind of surprised as she did very well last week but then as I posted my Garmin info, I realized last week was a holiday so we had one day between to recover. that explains a lot.  Jose rode with us most of the way but had to leave the coast early for a haircut so that gave us a chance to do a nice easy cruise back. Turned out very well. Only one tenth of  a mile slower than last week without a day between. She was tired but overall she did well!

My Mr. Beans Mobile. I had t convert to a "Z" when I went online.

Is the Mr. Beans Mobile getting fresh with Gina's bike?

Jose had to leave early so I took his pic before he left.;-)

Jose had to leave early so I took a pic of his shoes before he left ;-)

Jose had to leave early so I took his pic before he left.;-)

Why would anybody want to ride an MTB on pavement?

Is there a Colnago in the picture?

Summer is almost gone so I got to get it while I can

Should be a commercial........Can you hear me now?

                                                                      We survived!
